Málaga

We went to Málaga in the Costa del Sol (also the birth place of Pablo Picasso) this summer for the purpose of Tatiana going to a Spanish Language school. Tatiana was in class with 3 Germans. It was a great class except the kids communicated in English which was great for the Germans to practice their English not so great for Tatiana. My mom talked to Tatiana when we got back and was amazed at how much Tatiana knew. Tatiana went to class from 9:00am-8:00pm with a lunch break.
Michael and I had the day free to tour and go to the beach :)
I must say I was a bit disappointed in the Malagueños, the beaches are FILTHY!! They arrive in the morning and set up camp, when they leave in the evening they dont take their trash with them. The beach is full of junk that gets swept into the sea. We found diapers, kotex floating around. The worst part was when we went for a swim and Michael popped up and a piece of POOP floated by!!! It was adult size. That was it we got out. We decided to clean it up so every morning we would walk along the beach and pick up trash. People would just look at us wondering what on earth we were doing. Besides this Málaga is amazing the old city center is beautiful. I would go back just not to the beach.

The Alcazaba

 This fortress was begun in the 8th century, when Malaga was the principal port of the Moorish kingdom, though most of the present structure dates from the 11th century. The inner palace was built between 1057 and 1063, when the Moorish emirs took up residence;
