Our new home

Chateau Grossombre which owes its name to a beautiful oak centuries old, now sadly gone, is a beautiful Chartreuse of the eighteenth century, perfectly proportioned. Grossombre is a Chateau built on noble land that belonged to the lords of Benauge in the 14th century.  It then passed to the family of Canteloube (or Chantelouve) in 1583 François Canteloube, Stewart of Bazadais who sold to Baptiste Larmavaille the noble house of Grossombre with all dependencies. This played a big role in Guyenne during the religious wars. Grossombre then passed by marriage to the family of Aix. Trials and ambush erupted for many years, Louis d'Aix Joseph of Chassaigne coseigneur of Pressac and to Joseph NOLIBOIS priest of Espiet and Daignac.
from 1989- 2016, the house belonged Beatrice Lurton, youngest daughter of Andre Lurton. Since February 25th 2016 the house belongs to The Baynes Family and they have renamed it Chateau Colombe D'or
