Compassion Tour Day 3 Haiti

Today is Sunday, we will be going to church then visit a museum.
We are up at 7am everyday eat breakfast have prayer time then we start our day.
We are all jet lagged and some of the kids have a cold.
After dinner we get together for prayer and sharing about our day.

We have learned a lot about poverty, when children are young and poverty goes into their heart it is very hard to get it out. If they believe they are poor they become dependant upon aid.
At Compassion they try to build up children to have them believe they are not poor they can make a difference. The biggest drawback in Haiti is that even though they school the kids there are no jobs for them, there are no opportunites. They have many suicides by teen because they see no future.
But Compassion isnt giving up and neither are we.

Dating from the pre-colombian indian era to colonial times of 1794, when Haiti used to be the largest producer of sugar in the Caribbean.
The property is an authentic sugar cane plantation whose ruins were totally recovered by the work of Architect Gerard Fombrun during more than 35 years of personal involvement. The authentic stone aqueduct which still exists,  continues to run water to a gigantic 20 feet wooden wheel which was used to extract the juice from the cane.

We tend to have free time after 3:30 when everyone needs to be home, at first we were disappointed we didnt have that much time with the kids but now we see that our kids need a break. Its a full day starting at 7am and around 3:30 everyone is burnt out.
Our group played volley ball every night it was a great way to unwind

What we learned today

bring a dress for church and a shawl to cover shoulders
bring a hoodie it gets cool at night

The church is ALIVE!
