Today was a visit from a second group, we decided to be clever and use our water bottles
and fill them with juice from the breakfast bar we also grabbed some donuts and other snacks.
This time we were prepared with extra suits
the greetings
We felt it was important for each of our kids to feel a bond with one of the sponsor kids and what better way than to be praying for them. Each of our kids was to pray for one of the sponsored kids.
Edgar in red had been praying for Overton (in Sec shirt) and was so excited to finally meet him.
Mapi passing out items we grabbed from the breakfast buffet,
much better idea then us ordering and them leaving it
mapi and Djuna
Djuna had come from a near by island, where the poorest of the poor live, her house gets flooded all the time to the point they have lost a wall. Their floor is always wet and her father is dying. Her father has water in his heart and no one in Haiti is able to do the surgery. We decided as a group that we would build her a new house. We are working with Compassion to see how this can be done.
Bonding time is much easier for the boys, they play a game of soccer and everything clicks, for the girls its much harder. We come up with questions that dont really get answered, lots of awkward silence, lots of looking around.
the boys were really good
meanwhile, we are still trying to bond
water time is much better
Joanne from Compassion France interviews the childrens caretakers
she was not shy
Stephane came up with the idea of doing a pyramid
we had to do this several times
this is about as good as it got
the boys asked if they could ride a paddle boat
we rented two and took turns, they loved it
we were more prepared to help them with their food
very friendly girl
here she is with her dad
I wasn't expecting any gifts but some kids came with bracelets or Haiti souvenirs others gave globes
Wadley
Overton
I was kindly given a painting of myself, copied from a photograph sent to one of our kids. I wasnt sure what to think about it. I called it voodoo Synthia.
Greline is the one who gave me the painting

hardest time saying good bye
Today was a good day, learning about Djuna's hardship made us all grateful for what we have.
We took a polaroid camera with us to leave each child with a photograph. We hadnt tested the camera as you can see the film isnt very good. I bought the Impossible color film at $25.00 for 8 film pack. No good. My daughters Fuji instax worked much better.
